On 30 September, the Commission launched the Endocrine Active Substances Information System (EASIS). This web-based application, developed by the JRC, allows searching and collecting results from different scientific studies on chemicals related to endocrine activity. The implementation of EASIS is part of the Community Strategy for Endocrine Disruptors.

The draft European Standard for the design of structural glass was presented by the Project Team responsible for its drafting to the members of the competent CEN/TC 250/Sub-Committee, composed from representatives of National Standardisation Bodies, industry and national building authorities.

The meeting was held on 7-9 September in Ispra, Italy at the premises of the Joint Research Centre. It is the first Standard in the World that covers structural design of glass and it is being developed according to the mandate issued by DG GROW on the Structural Eurocodes.

JRC scientists of the EU Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing (EURL ECVAM) reviewed the current EU regulatory framework, methodologies, current practices and potential use of non-animal methods for assessing the combined effects and potential risks from combined exposure to multiple chemicals.

A recent JRC review of national and regional plans for breast cancer care in 32 European countries, EU and EFTA's member states, has shown that although most of these acknowledge the importance of psychological support for patients, only a third provide concrete measures such as necessary human resources, educational needs for personnel or indicators to measure the level of implementation.
