The International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Life Sciences: From Biological Structures to Neural Circuits (IMPRS-LS) currently has an open call for fully funded PhD student positions.

Postdoc researchers will work in a team with two PhD candidates and the project PI, Dr Olga Zvonareva. The work is largely collective. It entails сlose collaboration with the rest of the team and exchange of insights from the individual subprojects to reach the overall goal of theorizing informal practices as forms of public participation. However, postdoc researchers will also have the opportunity to expand on their subprojects based on their expertise, own ideas, and data generated, in consultation with the PI.

The FSTM invites researchers to apply for one of two open postdoctoral positions in the Scanning Probe Microscopy Laboratory headed by Prof. Alex Redinger in the frame of research projects, funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche. The Scanning Probe Microscopy group synthesizes and investigates thin film solar cells and 2D materials with surface sensitive characterization techniques.

Two three-year PhD fellowships on the project “FarmMERGE – the relationship between farmer health and work environment, and the health, animal welfare and productivity of their animals” are available at the Faculty of biosciences and aquaculture (Steinkjer) from April 1st 2021. For the right candidate a four-year position, which also includes 25% teaching, supervision and/or administrative duties, may be possible.

These 2 PhD projects will focus on the development of novel concepts in optimization and control theory by integrating fuzzy logic and mathematical optimization. The main objective is to generate new approaches with performance guarantees that are tractable for real-time engineering control problems that involve uncertainties. Therefore, next to generating new integrated concepts, theoretical properties (including characterization of the computational complexity) and performance guarantees will be established.

Cologne has emerged as a leading global research cluster with a stellar constellation of institutes and scientists dedicated to ageing research in Life Sciences.

VU university medical center is recruiting 4 PhD students for projects on genetic skeletal and cardiac muscle disease. Many individuals are identified as carrier of a pathogenic gene defect (mutation). However, current treatment options for affected individuals are limited. Within the research projects we perform studies in mouse models, stem cell-derived models and tissue form patient cohorts, to unravel disease mechanisms and test new interventions.

As computational strain designer, you will build computational workflows for modeling and for omics data analysis for target strain designs. The position requires that you work closely together with DTU-Biosustain’s Principle Investigators and design teams to coordinate schedules and goals for design projects.

The Senior Fellowships are offered annually to academics, established scholars or senior museum professionals in the field of British art and architectural history either to complete a manuscript or book for publication or to undertake a sustained period of research towards a major project.

They are designed to release Fellows from teaching and/or other employment responsibilities and provide them with a defined period to devote to writing or research.

These 2 (two) PhD vacancies are part of the H2020 X-Rotor project, which aims to develop disruptive new offshore wind turbine concept known as the “X-Rotor”. The X-Rotor has potential to reduce the cost of energy (CapEx and OpEx) from offshore wind by up to 20%, based on a conservative estimate from early feasibility study work. The X-Rotor concept is an offshore Vertical Axis Wind Turbine with blade-tip mounted Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines for power conversion.
