The Kluge Fellowship in Digital Studies provides an opportunity for scholars to utilize digital methods, the Library’s large and varied digital collections and resources, curatorial expertise, and an emerging community of digital scholarship practitioners. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research is particularly welcome in the Kluge Digital Studies program. The fellowship is open to scholars from all disciplines with special consideration given to those whose projects demonstrate relevance to the challenges facing democracies in the 21st century.

The Cluster of Excellence "CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter“, funded by the German Federal Republic and State Governments, combines projects in physics and chemistry at the forefront of international research. With interdisciplinary teams from Universität Hamburg, Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD), Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and European XFEL the Cluster aims at imaging and understanding how collective behavior and functionality emerge microscopically and how one can dynamically create new functionalities.

CanFaster- PhD Postdoctoral COFUND-MSCA-EU program, recruiting five fellows within Cancer and Entrepreneurship

CanFaster, which is co funded by EU, is a two-years post-doctoral program, within cancer research and entrepreneurship. The program will recruit 15 fellows during three calls. The goal is to faster forward the discoveries in cancer research, to speed up the time from discovery to change in clinical practice.

Queen's University Belfast is recruiting for Research Fellows in Bioinformatics to join the Gene Regulation Group led by Dr. Vijay Tiwari in the WWIEM. The successful candidates will be ambitious and collaborative and contribute to internationally competitive research on the epigenomics of cell-fate specification during development and disease. The group employs high-throughput epigenomics assays such as Single Cell genomics, ChIP-seq and RNA-seq in defined models of development and disease.

The focus areas of these research projects are on the development of surface-based bioanalytical instrumentation and/or their use in fundamental biophysics research as well as for applications in medical diagnostics and drug discovery. With respect to method development, surface-sensitive optical microscopy will be further developed together with advanced lipid-based surface modifications and microfluidics to enable single-molecule studies of the biomolecular interactions that forms the foundation for many diagnostic applications.

HITEC (Helmholtz Interdisciplinary Doctoral Training in Energy and Climate) is a graduate school for scientists and engineers who want to earn a PhD in the challenging fields of energy and climate research, and is a joint initiative between Forschungszentrum Jülich, the RWTH Aachen University, the University of Bochum, the University of Cologne, the University of Düsseldorf, and the University of Wuppertal. HITEC offers a 3-year training programme which fosters scientific and professional qualification.

The University of St Andrews is seeking four materials chemists, preferably with experience in battery technologies, as part of a project funded through the Faraday Institution (www.faraday.ac.uk) on next generation sodium-ion batteries. The Gros lab at the Bijvoet Centre for Biomolecular Research, Utrecht University is currently seeking two post-doctoral researchers for an ERC funded project on biophysical and structural aspects of the human complement system. The Gros lab studies biomolecular recognition and regulation processes in the area of infection and immunity. The lab has an internationally strong reputation in uncovering the molecular mechanisms that underpin the complement system.

The Chain Florey Clinical Research Fellowship Scheme presents clinical trainees with a unique opportunity to study basic science supported by two world-renowned academic institutions, Imperial College and the Medical Research Council London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS). The scheme has a variety of PhD projects on offer which focus specifically on experimental science rather than on clinical research. PhD projects will be with LMS Group Leaders and be conducted in LMS labs. Registration fees are covered as part of the Fellowship.

Opening: Postdoctoral research opportunities in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Texas A&M University are available for outstanding candidates to apply state-of-the-art microfluidics, droplet microfluidics, and lab-on-a-chip techniques to elucidate fundamental issues in host-pathogen interactions at single-cell resolution. The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology, and bioinformatics.

NOMATEN Center of Excellence is now in its initial stages and it is formed through a partnership between NCBJ (Poland), CEA (France) and VTT (Finland) with 7 years of joint financial support from the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) and the European Commission. NOMATEN focuses on the studies and development of novel materials, specifically those designed to work under harsh conditions – radiation, high temperatures and corrosive environments being primary examples.
