The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg invites international students holding a Master’s degree in (molecular) biology, (bio-)chemistry, (bio-)physics, computational biology, computer science, epidemiology/public health studies, health economics and related subjects to apply for the International PhD Program.

EUR MINT offers a 3-year support grant (possibly co-funded) for up to 2 students starting a PhD in one of the teams related to MINT. The PhD is to start in October 2020 (see also the Master offer).

This offer comes in addition to the other PhD grants handled by the doctoral school Mathématiques Informatique Télécommunications de Toulouse (EDMITT), like those from the labex CIMI or ANITI in related directions.

PhD candidates can rely on the intensive supervision and the extensive training offered by the school’s leading researchers in the field. They will follow the 3 or 4 year PhD programme of the Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI). The school offers opportunities to attend conferences, meet other international researchers and participate in various training modules that support PhD candidates’ knowledge and skills development. Many of our PhD candidates spend some time abroad during their trajectory.

The Quantum Dynamics (QD) Group at the Department of Applied Physics is looking for two postdoctoral researchers to work on quantum many-body theory, in particular on the connection between quantum geometry, topology and superfluidity/superconductivity, in bosonic and fermionic systems. The position is part of the current programs of the group funded by Academy of Finland. Applications are invited for two postdoctoral researchers to join the group of Prof Johanna Ivaska (www.ivaskalab.com) to work on ongoing and new exciting projects in cancer biology and nucleomechanical regulation of cell states. These projects are linked to a recently funded Academy of Finland Molecular Regulatory Networks of Life consortia with the Wickström lab (University of Helsinki).

The goal of the project is to use gene regulatory network inference to discover new regulatory mechanisms that control the repertoire of RBPs. To this end, software will be adapted and developed in order to infer reliable GRNs and to analyse results. Both in-house and public shRNA-RNAseq data from ENCODE will be used. Inferred GRNs will be analysed for regulatory links in relation to known functions and RNA binding and are subjected to experimental validation of the scientifically most valuable links.

The aim of the project "SYMPHONY: Orchestrating personalized treatment for patients with bleeding disorders" is to establish best treatment choice for each individual with a bleeding disorder based on bleeding tendency. This will be achieved by improving current diagnostic tests to measure hemostatic potential and by performing fundamental research into the pathophysiology behind interindividual differences in bleeding phenotype and treatment response, using novel techniques such as proteomics, and both IPSc and endothelial cellular systems.
