Each year ERIM initiates and starts a substantial number of new and internationally oriented PhD research projects. The focus is on pioneering and innovative research in the field of Management and Business Research.

The Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI (relAI) aims to train future generations of artificial intelligence (AI) experts, who for the first time combine technical brilliance with awareness of the importance of AI’s reliability.

The relAI program focuses on the mathematical and algorithmic foundations of reliable AI along with domain knowledge in three core application areas for which reliable AI methods are most urgently needed: medicine & healthcare, robotics & interacting systems, and algorithmic decision- making.

The International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (IMPRS-QST) and the Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) gladly announce the open call for several fully funded PhD fellowships for the Fall of 2024.

The research fields covered by IMPRS-QST and MQV include but are not limited to:

Atomic physics and quantum optics
Solid-state physics and material science
Quantum information theory
Quantum many-body systems
Quantum-related fields of electrical engineering and computer science

The European manufacturing industry, crucial for economic competitiveness, faces challenges pushing the limits of traditional materials, particularly in high-tech sectors like lithography and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). Metamaterials, built up from rationally, pre-designed architected substructures, hold the promise to outperform conventional materials and redefine the boundaries of industrial design practices, which can drive the much-needed transformational changes in European manufacturing industry.

Research with neutrons, with its interdisciplinary approach, is indispensable for modern science. Taking into consideration tremendous changes in the European neutron landscape and assuming responsibility for sustainability, the neutron community is nowadays facing an important task to ensure long-term perspectives, that essentially depend on its ability to create a new generation of innovative highly skilled researchers.

You will conduct independent, high-quality business research, supervised by a team of professors, and incorporate the research findings into a doctoral dissertation. Esade Business School is seeking applications for the Doctoral Programme in Management Sciences starting in September 2024. The Programme is full time and taught in English at our Barcelona-Sant Cugat campus.

This four-year programme consists of a one-year Master of Research (MRes), which comprises the specialized research coursework of the PhD (further information: MRes website), and three years dedicated to the development of the PhD dissertation (further information: PhD website).

In this role, you will work closely with academic and industry partners to develop innovative digital supported technologies and methods for the design and operation of future manufacturing systems. Examples are the model based planning and operation of workplaces, manufacturing systems and whole factories (e.g. through using factory/workplace simulation, machine learning or VR/AR) or the development of innovative automation solutions.

The European University Institute (EUI) offers four-year fully-funded PhD programmes in Economics, History, Law and Political and Social Sciences. Up to 130 scholarships are available for entry in September 2024, covering tuition and providing a monthly grant.

The International Max Planck Research School on Understanding Complex Plant Traits using Computational and Evolutionary Approaches is a local collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and the University of Cologne, Germany. International students are closely supervised by an advisory committee, receive training in professional skills, and are supported to share their scientific insights. All training is in English.

Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT is composed of five Centers: Neurogenomics, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, and Health Data Science. The Centers work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.

Leiden University is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join a dynamic research team for a 5-year project focused on investigating the intricate relationship between hormonal fluctuations and neurocognitive processes across the female lifespan. This project is funded by an ERC Consolidator grant and will be conducted at the Social Performance Monitoring Lab (www.socpmlab.nl; headed by Prof. Ellen de Bruijn), located at the department of Clinical Psychology at Leiden University in the Netherlands.

The Centre of mission and global studies at VID Specialized University offers up to three 100% positions as a Ph.D. Research Fellow in Theology for a period of 3 years.

The position as Research Fellow at VID aims at achieving a Ph.D. Degree after completed research training. An achieved Ph.D. degree is a relevant qualification for positions within and outside academia.

In 2035, cancer will have become the leading cause of death in the EU. Therapy resistance is a key contributor to high recurrence rates, morbidity, and mortality. Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is the most common type of esophageal cancer in the Western world, and a prime example of a cancer that is highly resistant to therapy. Despite recent developments of treatment strategies, long-term survival remains low. Prominent factors that contribute to the poor outcome of EAC are a high degree of acquired resistance, and heterogeneous responses to therapies.
