The DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG) 2721 is a consortium at Leipzig University, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf / Research Site Leipzig (HZDR/RSL) and the Leibniz Institute for Surface Engineering (IOM). It spans the fields of analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and theoretical chemistry, chemical technology and physics.

Prof. Eric Lambin seeks three post-doctoral researchers and a PhD student for his new ERC Advanced Grant on “Land use implications of the renewable energy transition”. The successful candidates will conduct innovative research on the geographic, economic, social and policy factors that constrain the spatial expansion of solar and wind energy in various geographic contexts in Europe. The research project aims to understand land use decisions by key stakeholders regarding the deployment of solar and wind energy production in rural and urban landscapes.

For a recently granted EU project, TU Delft will collaborate with other high-level European universities and industrial partners for the development of a bimodal propulsion system (main orbital control propulsion + reaction control thrusters) based on shared green propellants, produced in orbit through an innovative conversion process applied to liquid water.

Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) plays a pivotal role in blood coagulation, with its secretion from Weibel-Palade bodies (WPBs) being essential for responding to vascular trauma. Dysfunctional WPB biogenesis and exocytosis are characteristic of bleeding disorders such as Von Willebrand disease. In this project, we aim to identify the organelle trafficking routes responsible for WPB formation and secretion.

The core mission of the Cluster of Excellence “Balance of the Microverse” of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena is to elucidate fundamental principles of the interactions and functions in microbial communities in diverse habitats, ranging from oceans and groundwater to plant and human hosts. We aim to identify the shared characteristics of disturbed or polluted ecosystems as well as infectious diseases on the microbiome level, and develop strategies for their remediation by targeted interventions.
